Candidate Students
Dear Students, Dear Parents
Agriculture is one of the most strategic sectors worldwide for the future of humanity and the sustainable use of nature. The world population is estimated to be 9 billion in the 2050s. Some factors such as global warming, decreasing water resources and misuse of agricultural lands increase the importance of the agricultural sector. In this sense, we can say that we have entered a period in which agriculture is being rediscovered and its value is understood..
Founded in 2008, our Faculty has been making significant contributions to agricultural education and training for 11 years with its departments of Horticulture, Plant Protection, Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Biotechnology, Agricultural Economics, Field Crops, Soil Science and Plant Nutrition and Animal Husbandry and its graduates work in the public and private sectors. Our faculty has 12 classrooms, 11 laboratories, 1 conference hall, 1 seminar hall, 1 seminar hall with a total of 60 academic staff, including 41 faculty members and 19 research assistants. In addition, there are Central Laboratory, Farmer Training, Fruit Growing Application and Research Centers and Agricultural Application and Research Station, which provide application support to agricultural education and training. Our faculty is neighboring 3 countries in the Eastern Anatolia Region and continues its activities in the fertile lands of Iğdır, which is located at the foot of the highest mountain of our country, irrigated by the Aras River, which is called "Çukurova of Eastern Anatolia", where almost all agricultural products grow except citrus and olives.
It aims to become an opportunity and center of attraction for students from all corners of our country who cannot go to distant cities due to economic reasons and who are deprived of higher education in nearby provinces and districts.
We will be happy to see you at our University and Faculty of Agriculture. I wish that the choices you will make will end in the best way for you and your families.
Yours sincerely
Prof. Dr. Sefa ALTIKAT
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture
